The Reedy Creek Fire Fighters Association Local 2117

The Reedy Creek Fire Fighters Association Local 2117 was established by the International Association of Fire Fighters in 1972.

Response Area

Our primary response area is approximately 38.6 square miles, or 25,000 acres, which is located just southwest of Orlando, Florida. The property consists of the cities of Lake Buena Vista and Bay Lake which includes all theme parks, resorts, roadways, and surrounding areas of Walt Disney World.

Responsibilities

Our personnel provide: 9-1-1 communications, fire suppression, emergency medical treatment and transport, as well as shared responsibility for building inspections and public education. We operate out of four fire stations which currently house 7 ALS ambulances, 3 engine companies, 2 tower trucks, 4 woods trucks, 1 squad vehicle 1 tanker truck with various other support vehicles.

The Communications Center is a fully functional 911 center. The Telecommunicators have many responsibilities which include call taking, call handling and alarm monitoring.
The Firefighting Shift Personnel are responsible for fire suppression, emergency medical treatment and transport. All of the firefighting personnel are state certified Fire Fighters. They all hold either EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) or Paramedic certifications as well.
The Fire Prevention Personnel are responsible for all building and system inspections, pyrotechnic and convention event approval, inspection and maintenance of portable and kitchen hood protection systems, technical support, and public education.
The MARC Personnel work 10, 12, and 15 hour shifts. This group of EMT's and Paramedics provide emergency medical treatment to each of Disney's four theme parks and the Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island area.
